I have a confession to make. Until last week, I’d only ever had 2 spray tans in my entire life. I consider myself quite a low maintenance lady. My only real pampering treat is getting my nails done every couple of weeks.

Something I try to do, but do really quite badly, is self tanning. Please be upstanding for the QUEEN OF STREAKING!! I’ll always do it before my holidays, or a girls night, and spend half of the next day chuckling at, and covering up my mistakes! The elbows, ankles, palms of my hands….you know, the usual spots! (EXFOLIATE Lucy, EXFOLIATE.) Based on how bad my skills are, goodness knows why I’ve only ever had 2 spray tans before in my entire life. Why do it yourself when you can get someone to do it properly? I had one when they were first around years ago, and the other before I got married. (the tan lasted almost as long as the marriage….)

So I jumped at the chance to be bronzed up by spray tanning royalty Beth Sayers. (she was trained under James Harknett, the spray tan artist for the W Hotel don’tcha know…) Knowing I was in capable hands, and with Madame LA LA products loved by the likes of model of the moment, Gigi Hadid and fabulous fashionista Olivia Palermo, I had a feeling my review of the tan would be as glowing as my skin. And I wasn’t wrong.

I arrived at the Madame LA LA event at the wonderful Sanderson Hotel, and was greeted by the lovely ladies from Lovo, who provided us all with a rather refreshing Vodka & Sparkling Coconut Water. (officially my new favourite skinny b***h drink FYI). Delicious Prosecco from Premier Estates went down very well with the Krispy Kreme donuts on offer too. Madame LA LA founder Nicole Dash Jones is clearly a girls girl. Bubbles AND cake. YES GURL. I then made my way to the specially set up tanning booth.

Beth instantly made me feel at ease. We had a good old natter as she prepped my skin using Nip & Fab Glycolic Fix cleansing pads & their Hyaluronic Fix Body Gel too. Beth then expertly sprayed on the Madame LA LA tan, made sure it was all even and dry, and then – I looked in the mirror. WOW. I LOVED it. Who needs 2 weeks on a Caribbean beach when you can get a tan like that in minutes? Not to mention the fact you don’t have to worry about skin damage or getting sand in tricky places… Also – getting a spray tan gives you a real confidence boost too. I practically bounced out of there! When I went out the next night, several of my friends asked where I got my tan from and paid some very lovely compliments too.

Something else worth knowing is that Madame LA LA products also contain Coco Water, Green Tea and Aloe, plus built in skin finishing perfectors. So, not only are you getting a golden glow, you’re also doing your skin good too. #winning.

The new Madame LA LA Bronzing Ball!

The new Madame LA LA Bronzing Ball!

As well as their self tan mousse, other Madame LA LA products now available in Superdrug Prestige stores and also Topshop’s BeautyMart on Oxford Street, include the West Coast Bronzing Serum (a fantastic on the go, self tan, pick me up for the face) and from August, the Bronzing Ball! Another ‘on the go’ product, it promises to sculpt, bronze and contour. I’ll be taking one of those on my Summer jaunt to Ibiza, that’s for certain. Which reminds me, I’ve got my first trip out there next week…. *books another Madame LA LA spray tan*

That’s it, I’m officially educated, and converted in the art of spray tanning. I reckon I could even wrestle with that self tanning mitt and win this time. No more streaks for me!
